UFC 305 is the latest PPV to be put on by the MMA franchise, and there’s a title fight to head the card.

The UFC is decamping to Perth, Australia, as it continues to broaden its travel across the world.

Topping the bill is Dricus du Plessis, defending his middleweight championship against two-time belt holder Israel Adesanya.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of UFC 305.

Adesanya, a former two-time champion, has not fought since September – when he lost the belt to Sean Strickland in one of the biggest upsets in UFC history.

Now the Nigerian-born New Zealander is back for a grudge match with Du Plessis, who dethroned Strickland in January.

The main event will see Dricus Du Plessis attempt to defend his UFC middleweight title for the first time against two-time champion Israel Adesanya. “The Last Stylebender” lost his title in a shocking upset loss to Sean Strickland last year, and at UFC 297 Du Plessis claimed the belt from Strickland via split decision and set the stage for a highly-anticipated fight with Adesanya.

With that victory, the South African fulfilled his goal of becoming the first UFC champion who was not only born in Africa but has also trained there throughout his career. However, Du Plessis’s claim that he is the first “real” African UFC champion is the root of Adesanya’s qualms with “Stillknocks”.

UFC 305 will take place on Saturday 17 August at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

The early prelims will begin at 11.30pm BST (3.30pm PT / 5.30pm CT / 6.30pm ET), with the regular prelims following at 1am BST on Sunday (5pm PT / 7pm CT / 8pm ET on Saturday). The main card is then scheduled for 3am BST on Sunday (7pm PT / 9pm CT / 10pm ET on Saturday).

This weekend’s co-main headliner features potential fireworks at flyweight between top contenders Kara-France and Erceg.

Despite coming out on the wrong end of a competitive split decision to Amir Albazi last time out (in a fight many thought he won), Kara-France still finds himself firmly entrenched in the 125-pound division’s top five.

Looking to take said spot is the somewhat unassuming Erceg, who enters this contest with a No. 7 next to his name.

Even though Erceg is also coming off a loss, the Australian’s stock has arguably risen in defeat given how well he competed with the flyweight champion, Alexandre Pantoja, back in May.

Tension is running high ahead of the UFC 305 match between Dricus du Plessis and Israel Adesanya this Saturday. The two men have met in the ring before, but this weekend’s match feels more personal and more contentious than ever, with Adesanya telling du Plessis at a press conference on Friday, “I will slay you like a pig,” after du Plessis taunted Adesanya with a remark about growing up with domestic servants in his home.
